These changes have been introduced to ensure consistency in our membership structure, improve administrative efficiency, and better serve the needs of our growing professional and student community.
Effective May 2025, all individuals seeking to join or re-register as members of ZIG are required to comply with the new policy outlined below.
Updated Policy on Joining Fees and Subscription
As part of our revised membership framework, a one-time joining fee equivalent to the annual subscription fee is now required for all new and returning members. This applies across all membership categories. The joining fee supports the Institute’s ongoing efforts to deliver quality services, facilitate professional development opportunities, and promote innovation within the geomatics field.
Membership Categories and Registration Requirements
1. Student Members
ZIG remains committed to supporting students pursuing qualifications in geomatics and related disciplines. To ensure your membership is accurately categorized, we now require verification of your academic status.
What You Need to Submit:
- Valid proof of your current or recent student status, which may include:
- A valid student identity card issued by your tertiary institution (must clearly indicate validity period), or
- An official academic transcript, or
- A graduation certificate, depending on your current status.

2. Non-Student Members (Graduates, Technologist, Fellows and Professionals)
We request all graduate and professional members to update their membership profiles to reflect their current career or educational status. This is essential for proper classification within ZIG and to ensure that members receive appropriate resources, communication, and professional development opportunities.
What You Need to Do:
- Pay a joining fee equivalent to your applicable annual subscription.
- Provide updated details about your professional status, such as:
- Current employment or professional engagement,
- Latest qualifications or certifications,
- Role or title, and any relevant affiliation.

- Submissions without proper documentation will not be processed.
