ZIG 2025 Geomatics Conference
Theme: “Geomatics AI Tools – Key Strategy in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”
Date: 25 – 26 July 2025
Location: Cresta Hotel, Harare

Conference Overview
The Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics (ZIG) invites professionals, researchers, academics, policymakers, and students to submit abstracts for the ZIG 2025 Geomatics Conference under the theme “Geomatics AI Tools – Key Strategy in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals / SDGs.”
Geomatics—the science and technology of gathering, analyzing, interpreting, distributing, and using geographic information—has emerged as a pivotal discipline in addressing global challenges and fostering sustainable development.
The convergence of geomatics and artificial intelligence, often referred to as GeoAI, is revolutionizing numerous sectors and offering unprecedented opportunities to tackle complex global challenges. GeoAI leverages cutting-edge AI methods, including machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision, to analyze geospatial data from satellite imagery, LiDAR, aerial photos, GPS, and other sources (Boutayeb et al., 2024; Gao, 2023).
By linking geospatial technologies with AI, GeoAI enhances the ability to interpret massive and complex datasets, offering timely and actionable insights to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These innovations play a vital role in sectors like disaster risk reduction, agriculture, public health, infrastructure, and climate change mitigation.
